In 2015 Argosy Players were very excited to announce the launch of ACT (Argosy Children’s Theatre ) giving the chance for the younger members of our local community aged 8 – 16 to access theatre in an exciting and inspiring environment led by some of our experienced members, who have worked within schools and youth theatre’s for a number of years. Sessions were held each Thursday evening.
Founder ACT tutors Tom Mackriell and Lissy Balchin laid solid foundations for the group using theatre games and exercises to introduce voice and acting techniques as well as exploring improvisation and stage craft, handing over to Stephen King in September 2016 who in turn handed the baton to Clare Wooster in January 2018.
As well as ‘end of year performances’ which have included Babe the Sheep Pig, A Midsummer Night’s Dream and Swallows & Amazons, members of ACT are regularly cast in Argosy productions too.
ACT on Mondays 7pm – 8pm for boys and girls aged 8 – 11yrs
(school year 4, 5, & 6) *****
ACT on Thursdays 7pm – 8pm for boys and girls aged 11 – 15yrs
(school year 7, 11)
**** We do not have quite enough 8 – 11yr olds to run this group at present, but we do have a waiting list – just two or three more enquiries and the group could start up again.
