Founder ACT tutors Tom Mackriell and Lissy Balchin lain solid foundations for the group using games and exercises to introduce voice and acting techniques as well as exploring improvision and stage craft. Members of ACT took on the role of the rats in Argosy’s 2016 panto Dick Whittington and in July took to the stage again in Babe the Sheep Pig, directed by Tom and Lissy.

This coming Summer we are introducting ACT on Mondays, so that we can tailor our programme to more specific age groups.

ACT on Mondays     7pm – 8pm for boys and girls aged 8 – 11yrs (school year 4, 5, & 6)

ACT on Thursdays   7pm – 8pm for boys and girls aged 11 – 15yrs (school year 7, 11)


Term begins on September 12th 2016 with Stephen King at the helm.

Stephen King

Trained as a Musical Theatre performer at ArtEd on the degree course, and is further training to be a Certified  Master Teacher in the Estill Model Voice Training Systems of which there are only a handful in the UK. he has sung for BBC radio 2’s ‘Friday Night is Music Night’ and hosts  acharity concert every year.

Having taught in one capacity or another since he was 14, Stephen has taught children as young as 5 at dance and theatre schools including Stagecoach: High Wycombe, Henley, Marlow, Aylesbury and Wokingham through to BTEC courses across the country including The Henley Collage Redroofs, and degree level at London Studio.

Being passionate about voice has led stephen to teach singers and actors to be more informed about voice performance and removing the ‘luck’ elements to voice production.

Stephen has been involved with Argosy since 2015, he Musically Directed The Lion, The Witch and the Wardrobe, and co-wrote and MD’d the panto Dick Whittingtonin January 2016.
