Argosy Players is an Amateur Dramatic Club
And a Registered Charity (Charity No – 266728)
We are dedicated to promoting the development of dramatic art in the London Borough of Hillingdon on a non-profit making basis.

Over the years the Argosy Players have become recognised as one of the London Borough of Hillingdon’s foremost Amateur Theatre Companies. The group has successfully presented numerous productions to audiences throughout local the area.

Argosy Players were formed in 1947, when members of the Bishopshalt School Drama Society decided to set sail and go it alone just like Jason and his Argonauts, hence the name. Since its formation Argosy’s aim has been to give local people the opportunity to learn and develop their theatrical skills.

We achieve this by staging several shows a year and constantly strive to give everyone involved the chance to learn and perfect their particular skill be it on stage, performing, or in one of the many backstage and technical roles.

Argosy’s talents have been successfully applied to many aspects of Theatre including Musicals, Comedies, Thrillers, Tragedy, Pantomime and even staged The Mad Bess Express on the Ruislip Lido Railway.

Their main venue, at present, is the Compass Theatre in Ickenham which has proven very popular with audiences, and the annual pantomime is performed at the Winston Churchill Hall in Ruislip with its larger audience capacity.

Argosy is a friendly group that works hard throughout rehearsals in an informal atmosphere under the guidance of a director, supported by the committee and other club members.
